Arrow's Edge Live Blackjack

Live Blackjack plays at a 7-seat table but sadly doesn’t offer Bet Behind option. The game uses 8 decks and American rules, meaning the dealer receives their second card before players have to decide whether to hit, stand, double down or split.

This allows your opponent to check for Blackjack early on and thus eliminates the risk of a bigger loss. Before they peak at their hole card, players will be offered to insure against the dealer’s visible Ace and a potential Blackjack. As is usually the case, Insurance pays 2:1.

If the dealer does score Blackjack, all bets except for Insurance will lose and players who also hold Blackjack will push. Even Money option is another helpful feature which allows a Blackjack holder to win 1:1 rather than despair as their fantastic hand delivers zero return. Players are able to double down on initial two cards and split up to a total of four hands.

Arrow's Edge definitely brought the best live blackjack product to the US market, but I've been confused as to why it has only been 2 tables so far. One seems to always be busy, with no bet behind option and the other one is for VIP players with betting limits starting from $100. If that is you, then definitely go for it, but for the rest of us we'll have to wait for more tables.

Side Bets & More

Blackjack pays 3:2 but the game can deliver more thanks to 2 optional wagers. The 21+3 side bet wins when your two initial cards and the dealer’s up card form a valid poker hand and pays 5:1 for Flush, 10:1 for Straight, 25:1 for Three-of-a-kind, 40:1 for Straight Flush and 100:1 for suited Three-of-a-kind. Perfect Pairs side wager wins if the player’s initial hand is a pair and pays 6:1 for cards of different color, 12:1 for those of same color but different suits, and 25:1 for cards of the same suit. In-game options are quite limited so there’s not much to do except for choose the amount you wish to bet and make decisions based on cards dealt. Controls buttons positioned in the upper right corner enable access to betting limits, game history, sound control and choice of languages. While waiting for cards to be dealt or for other players to make their decisions, one can communicate with the dealer via Live Chat box.

Overall Thoughts

Live Blackjack offered by Arrow’s Edge has some advantages and disadvantages over the competitive products. It’s relatively basic in terms of user interface and doesn’t support betting behind but it does incorporate popular side bets as well as Even Money feature. There isn’t much one can do as far video is concerned except for switching to a full screen mode, and the only option for adjusting sound is to turn it on or off. However, this particular game is one of the few variants allowing re-splits to 4 hands.
