State pride goes on the line in National Schools finals

State pride will go on the line with the staging of this year's NRL Schoolboys and Schoolgirls National Finals this week. 

The winners from both the Queensland and New South Wales state finals will go head-to-head at Leichhardt Oval this Thursday in two massive games.

In the NRL Schoolgirl Cup - National Final, Central Coast Sports College will take on Marsden State High School at 12.15pm. 

Central Coast defeated Westfields Sports High 18-14 in a thrilling final to cap a stunning rise, with their school's girls rugby league program only established five years ago. 

Marsden will have their sights on claiming back-to-back national honours for Queensland teams following their dominant 58-6 state win over Kirwan State High School.

In the NRL Schoolboy Cup - National Final, Patrician Brothers College Blacktown will take on Keebra Park State High School, with the NSW school out to make amends following last year's national final loss to Palm Beach Currumbin.

The western Sydney school earned their shot at redemption with a 36-24 win over Hunter Sports High School in the NSW state final.

Standing in their way are Keebra Park SHS, who overcame an early setback in their state final game against Kirwan SHS to post a 32-10 victory.

Entry to the ground for the two finals is free.

Those who can't be there can still catch all of the action, with both games being broadcast live and free on Channel 9.
