Storm v Sea Eagles – Round 20, 2025
Full time: A massive result for Antony Seibold’s men, which lifts them back inside the top eight. The 18-16 victory, thanks to a late Reuben Garrick field goal that came after Harry Grant made contact with Luke Brooks on a field goal attempt, hands the Storm their first home defeat in 11 games and ends a six-year gap between wins in Melbourne for the Sea Eagles. The Storm will rue a horror night with ball in hand in which they completed just 29 of 45 sets, while Manly were excellent, finishing with a 90% completion rate.
79 min: Josh King spills the ball with the Storm on the charge and that might be the game!
78 min: Reuben Garrick nails the penalty and puts the Sea Eagles back in front, 18-16.
78 min: Luke Brooks pumps a field goal wide from 40 out, but a Captain's Challenge from the Sea Eagles finds Harry Grant makes contact with Brooks' kicking leg. It ends in a penalty to the Sea Eagles, which they opt to try and kick, and the Storm skipper goes on report.
77 min: Tui Kamikamica spills the ball 15 out from the line. Melbourne challenge the play, claiming a dangerous tackle happened in the lead up. But the Bunker clears it. Sea Eagles ball.
76 min: That's a big moment in this game. Siosiua Taukeiaho bumps into Nick Meaney while he is in mid-air claiming a bomb. The penalty means Melbourne start this set 40 metres up field, rather than camped on their own line. They should end up in field goal range at the end of this set.
72 min: Xavier Coates again! That's three for the towering wing, who this time leaps high to claim a bomb over Lehi Hopoate and secure his ninth career hat-trick. Nick Meaney adds the extra two points to tie things up at 16-16.
Xavier Coates 3rd Try
65 min: A spectacular 95-metre effort from the Storm to strike back! It all begins with Jahrome Hughes shutting down a Manly attack by picking the ball off while camped on his own line, before linking with Grant Anderson. With Reuben Garrick breathing down his neck and more Sea Eagles cover coming around halfway, Anderson flings the ball out towards Xavier Coates, who picks it up off the bounce and races to the corner, diving over the top of Garrick's last-ditch attempt for a stunning try. Nick Meaney is just off target with the kick, but it's back to a one-score game nonetheless. Storm 10 Sea Eagles 16.
Xavier Coates 2nd Try
63 min: Nick Meaney coughs up Melbourne's 14th error of the game after the Storm had entered attacking territory.
59 min: Xavier Coates goes on a 35-metre run down field after breaking the line, but Lehi Hopoate comes up with a big tackle to take the Queensland winger into touch. If he had his time again Coates would have settled for the field position there. The Storm are back under pressure.
The Sea Eagles swoop
58 min: A huge play from Ben Trbojevic to win the ball back after the Storm forced a dropout. Eliesa Katoa can't bring the short dropout in and 'Burbo' is there to dive on the scraps.
55 min: Lehi Hopoate comes up with a big high ball take under pressure, but that's followed by the Storm successfully challenging an on-field decision which sees them earn possession back.
53 min: Manly march straight back down field after surviving at the other end and whip a kick in behind the Storm line, but Tolutau Koula can't handle it this time and turns the ball over.
A textbook DCE tackle
52 min: Jahrome Hughes breaks the line and puts the Storm in great position for a hit back, which is then aided by a six-again call, but it comes to an end when Stefano Utoikamanu coughs up possession.
41 min: Plenty of injury news after the break. Sea Eagles hooker Jake Simpkin has been ruled out after being deemed a Category 1 HIA late in the first half, but prop Toafofoa Sipley has been cleared and is back on the field. Storm back Grant Anderson is also good to after passing a HIA during the break.
Frantic finish to the first half
Half time: It's the Sea Eagles who lead 16-6 at the break. The obvious difference between the two sides through the first 40 is the completion rates, with the Sea Eagles almost perfect at 95% and the Storm conversely making errors on nine of their 20 sets.
39 min: A try claim for the Sea Eagles is ruled out. Ben Trbojevic knocked on in batting down the ball. Storm back on the ball before the break.
38 min: The Storm looked to have struck a timely blow with a try to skipper Harry Grant, who cleverly zipped between defenders to get over. But Bunker review finds Nelson Asofa-Solomona through an elbow at a defender in the lead up and the try is ruled out! Manly penalty.
36 min: Jake Simpkin goes on report for a tackle in which his shoulder made contact with Grant Anderson, forcing the Storm back from the field for a HIA. He also appears to have picked up a nose injury from the hit.
34 min: Another successful raid down the left edge by the Sea Eagles, with Reuben Garrick the beneficiary this time, finishing off a move which included touches from both Daly Cherry-Evans and Luke Brooks. The visitors' lead is 10 after Garrick drags his conversion to the left.
Reuben Garrick Try
28 min: Melbourne commit their fifth penalty of the game so far with Joe Chan penalised for a second effort in defence.
26 min: Luke Brooks sends a flying Tolutau Koula over from close range for the go-ahead try. The Sea Eagles are humming and taking advantage of some uncharacteristic errors from Melbourne so far. Reuben Garrick is on target this time, making it a six-point lead for the Sea Eagles.
Tolutau Koula Try
23 min: A lovely late pass from Tom Trbojevic, after he stepped out of a first-up tackle attempt, creates space for Jason Saab on the outside and the lanky wing is over for Manly's first try of the night and his seventh in as many games in 2025. Reuben Garrick hands the conversion out wide, so it's 6-6.
Jason Saab Try
15 min: The Maroons connection link up down the left for the Storm and they are on the board. Cameron Munster flings a pass out wide for Xavier Coates who does the rest. Jason Saab got fingertips to the ball, but not enough to prevent it from reaching its intended target. Nick Meaney hits it beautifully from the sideline and it's Storm 6 Sea Eagles 2.
Xavier Coates Try
10 min: A glut of Storm errors put the Sea Eagles in great position to score, but Tolutau Koula ends up being pinged for double movement. A huge let off for the hosts there.
7 min: There's been a couple of early errors as both sides look to play up tempo. The Storm have completed at just 40% so far.
4 min: Reuben Garrick gets the scoring going with his 162nd point of the season.
3 min: An early turnover from the Storm is compounded by a penalty for a strip and the Sea Eagles are going to take the early two points on offer.
Late Mail
Storm: Joe Chan has been named in the centres, replacing Kane Bradley in the starting line-up. Grant Anderson shifts to the left wing, while Nick Meaney starts at fullback for his 150th NRL game. Tui Kamikamica moves into the starting side at prop, with Stefano Utoikamanu reverting to the bench. Meanwhile, Cameron Munster returns for the Storm after sitting out last week following the death of his father. Bronson Garlick is the replacement player.
Sea Eagles: No late changes for Manly, with Anthony Seibold naming the same team that defeated South Sydney before last week's bye. Tom Trbojevic remains in the centres, with Lehi Hopoate at fullback and Jason Saab on the wing. Aaron Schoupp is the replacement player.
Numbers Game

- The Sea Eagles have not won in Melbourne since 2019.

Bulldogs v Dragons – Round 20, 2025
Full time: The Bulldogs hold their nerve and strike the killer blow with two minutes to spare and pick up their 13th win of the season. New No.7 Lachlan Galvin was a standout performer, scoring a try before laying on the winner at the death. The back five were massive for Cameron Ciraldo too, with each of them going for over 100 metres in yardage and fullback Connor Tracey and winger Jacob Kiraz ticking over 200. The Bulldogs win 20-18.
78 min: Lachlan Galvin sends rookie wing Jethro Rinakama over in the far left corner with a looping cut-out pass. Tyrell Sloan had raced out of the line so Rinakama goes over untouched in the end. Stephen Crichton is unsuccessful with the conversion, but the Dogs lead 20-18.
Ratu Rinakama Try
76 min: Corey Allan jumps to claim a Lachlan Galvin cross-field kick, but it's ruled he jumped from the field of play before landing back in the in-goal area. The short dropout doesn't go the 10, so the Bulldogs start a new set 10 metres out from their try-line.
74 min: The Bulldogs successfully challenge an on-field decision of a knock on from Jacob Kiraz and instead are awarded a penalty for crowding in the ruck. Canterbury-Bankstown are on the attack with the game on the line.
72 min: Another crucial error from the Bulldogs in a good-ball situation, with Jaeman Salmon spilling the ball as he attempted to play it.
70 min: Bailey Hayward to the rescue for the Bulldogs! Tyrell Sloan was racing through to collect his own chipped ball, before the versatile Bulldogs got there to hit it dead. From the dropout the Dragons knock it into an offside player. That's a huge moment in this contest.
69 min: The Bulldogs were on the attack, but Viliame Kikau turns the ball over after it pops loose while he looked to offload.
67 min: A huge defensive play from the Dragons as four tacklers come together to force Jacob Kiraz into touch.
65 min: Matt Burton stabs a kick in behind and Tyrell Sloan can't escape the in-goal, but from the ensuing dropout Luciano Leilua claims the ball. A huge play that takes the immediate pressure off the Red V.
63 min: The Dragons win a penalty on play five to piggy-back them out of their own end and onto the attack. Bulldogs prop Max King is placed on report for his role in the dangerous tackle.
Fearless from Tracey
61 min: Luciano Leilua returns to the field after passing his head injury assessment.
61 min: Connor Tracey wins a race against Clinton Gutherson to a bomb and the scraps are picked up by Viliame Kikau who gets over the line. But it's sent up as a no-try due to a suspected knock on, which the Bunker promptly confirms.
57 min: Sione Finau is being helped from the field with what has just been confirmed as a dislocated shoulder. His night is over. Corey Allan has moved out to the wing and Jaydn Su'A to centre for the time being.
55 min: Sione Finau crashes over out wide after grabbing a cut-out pass from Clinton Gutherson. The try is confirmed, but Finau has picked up a shoulder injury in the act of scoring and is being attended to on the field. Kyle Flanagan bangs it over from the sideline and the Dragons have hit the lead!
Sione Finau Try
51 min: A ferocious carry from Moses Suli sees him break through one tackle and drag another defender over the line for his first try of the 2025 season. Kyle Flanagan is off target with the conversion, but it's back to a one-score game nonetheless. Bulldogs 16 Dragons 12.
49 min: St George Illawarra come close to grabbing their second try after Lyhkan King-Togia splits the line. But after the initial excitement of that break, the set ends poorly with Kyle Flanagan putting a kick well short of the line, which Stephen Crichton claims.
48 min: Dragons forward Luciano Leilua has left the field for a HIA.
47 min: The Dragons have come out of the sheds with a fire in their belly and enjoyed a couple of early chances. But the Bulldogs defence is up to the task so far.
Half time: The Bulldogs have outscored the Dragons three tries to one in the first half and are dominating possession. But it remains very much a game at the break, with just eight points between them.
39 min: A penalty right on half-time presents the Dragons with an easy two points, which they take through Kyle Flanagan, to make it 16-8.
38 min: Kyle Flanagan is pinged for a tackle without the ball on Harry Hayes, which has left the Bulldogs forward worse for wear. After receiving treatment on the field he is able to continue and the hosts go on the attack to end the first half.
33 min: Reed Mahoney jumps out of dummy-half and fakes to Sitili Tupouniua, which is enough to create a half gap that he powers through for the Bulldogs' third try. Stephen Crichton converts from right under the posts for a 16-6 lead.
Reed Mahoney Try
31 min: Kyle Flanagan kicks out on the full to gift the Bulldogs a new set starting 30 out from the line, at the same time Emre Guler is taken from the field for a HIA.
Su'A on a mission
28 min: Stephen Crichton goes up to contest a bomb, which ends in Jacob Kiraz getting over the line, but it's a knock on and the Dragons survive another storming set from Canterbury-Bankstown.
23 min: Lachlan Galvin is over to celebrate his return to the halves for the Bulldogs. It all starts with Stephen Crichton busting through Corey Allan and Lyhkan King-Togia's attempted tackle, before linking with his halfback who has too much speed from there. Crichton then backs it up with a successful shot at goal to put the Dogs ahead by four.
Lachlan Galvin Try
17 min: A long-range strike from the Dragons begins with Clinton Gutherson breaking the line, before he links with Tyrell Sloan who has too much pace on the outside and goes over. Kyle Flanagan is the new kicker in the absence of Valentine Holmes and his first attempt is good. The Dragons lead 6-4.
Tyrell Sloan Try
15 min: St George Illawarra hold on and tackle Connor Tracey on the last. A huge goal-line stand from the Red V after a wave of Bulldogs possession.
Galvin with the soft touch
13 min: A brilliant try-saving tackle from Damien Cook denies Viliame Kikau a spectacular solo try. After initially being called a try on field, it goes up to the Bunker and is confirmed as a no-try.
What a try-saver from Cook
11 min: The Bulldogs are pressing the Dragons hard and have just earned a second-straight repeat set.
7 min: The Bulldogs spread the ball out to the right and Jacob Kiraz tiptoes his way down the sideline, keeping his foot off the touchline by only inches, to finish and open the scoring. Stephen Crichton is wide with the conversion. 4-0 to the Dogs.
Jacob Kiraz Try
6 min: A strip from Jaydn Su'A ignites a bit of push and shove between the two sides. In the end it's a Bulldogs penalty and they now start a set inside opposition territory.
5 min: A would-be opener from the Dragons via Tyrell Sloan is ruled out by the Bunker. Review finds Sloan pushes off a Bulldogs defender and it's deemed he obstructed him. It remains 0-0.
3 min: The Dragons are unable to take advantage of the early error. Kyle Flanagan kicks too deep on play five and gives the Bulldogs a seven-tackle set.
1 min: A horror start for the Bulldogs with rookie wing Jethro Rinakama spilling the ball on the second carry of the game.
Late Mail
Bulldogs: Edge forward Sitili Tupouniua is back from a hamstring injury on the bench. Josh Curran moves into the starting side and Sam Hughes drops out. Lachlan Galvin is set to start his first game as halfback for the Bulldogs and will partner Matt Burton in the halves. Stephen Crichton and Kurt Mann are also back on deck but Bronson Xerri will miss the clash with a groin injury.
Dragons: Val Holmes' season-ending shoulder injury brings Corey Allan into the starting side at centre. Michael Molo will start in the front row with Emre Guler dropping back to the bench in a late change before the teams were finalised. Hamish Stewart (knee) and Luciano Leilua (laceration) will play despite suffering injuries last weekend.

45 min: Eels forward Jack Williams is placed on report for raising his elbow as he carried the ball into the defensive line.
44 min: Jamal Fogarty launches a torpedo from well inside his own 40-metre line and the Eels allow it to bounce. The referee rules a 40-20 but the Eels enter a captain's challenge and they are successful as the bunker rules the ball had gone into touch just short of the 20-metre line.
Half-time: A sensational comeback from the Eels from 12-0 down to take a four-point lead into the sheds on the back of some nice touches from Dean Hawkins and Joash Papalii while Blues winger Zac Lomax racks up 132 metres and four tackle breaks.
Sean Russell Try
38 min: The Eels go short side from 25 metres out and Joash Papalii bunts a chip over the top and into the corner where Josh Addo-Carr and Xavier Savage trip over before Sean Russell comes through to score. Zac Lomax's conversion goes in off the upright. Eels 16-12.
36 min: The Raiders threaten again but Kaeo Weekes comes up with a simple error and a piggyback penalty for a flop allows the Eels to move into Canberra's half.
31 min: Matt Doorey gaps the Raiders and Parra go on the attack again but Isaiah Iongi comes up with an error just as they had the home team on the back foot.
Zac Lomax Try
