We kicked off Round 19 with the Sharks hosting the Dolphins in a clash of two sides with semi-final aspirations but trending in very different directions in the past month.
The Sharks had lost four of their past five matches to slide to 11th on the ladder but with Nicho Hynes finding form and Will Kennedy running for 240 metres the men from the Shire got the job done over a depleted Dolphins outfit.
The Sharks' back five of Kennedy, Katoa, Ramien, Talakai and Mulitalo ran for 907 metres between them while back-rowers Briton Nikora and Teig Wilton clocked up 29 runs and 277 metres.

Dolphins – Round 19
Dazzling Dolphin: Herbie Farnworth's dancing feet delivered him 256 metres from runs to go with eight tackle breaks. His try with nine minutes to go gave the Dolphins a real shot at a comeback win but in the end the home side hung on.
Nicho delivers: The Sharks' No.7 produced his finest performance of the season to grab the second double of his career and run for 127 metres as he took on the defence at every opportunity. His pass to put Sione Katoa over late was an absolute beauty and put the exclamation mark on a brilliant night. Hynes revealed post-match that he had 'Stevie' written on his wrist band to pay tribute to his good mate Cameron Munster's father who passed away last weekend.
Full-time: The Sharks' ninth win of the season takes them to 22 competition points and into seventh spot for the time being. The Dolphins came at the home side hard and could have taken the lead if not for Toby Rudolf's desperate lunge to deny Jeremy Marshall-King a try.
Sione Katoa Try
80 min: Nicho Hynes caps a superb game with a 20-metre pass to winger Sione Katoa who flies into the corner to make it 24-12.
Nicholas Hynes Try
75 min: On the back of a dropped bomb by Tevita Naufahu the Sharks get a chance inside the Red Zone and Nicho Hynes completes his double with another strong run from close range. Hynes converts his own try to make it 20-12.
73 min: Max Feagai grubbers into the in goal and Jeremy Marshall-King has a crack at grounding the ball for a try but Toby Rudolf's desperation denies the Dolphins and JMK is ruled to have knocked on.
Herbie Farnworth Try
71 min: Simply magnificent by Herbie Farnworth as he beats five defenders on a weaving run from his own side of halfway before passing to Kurt Donoghoe before taking a return pass from the back-rower and sprinting away to score. Jamayne Isaako converts. Sharks 14-12.
Max Feagai Try
67 min: The Dolphins come up with a cracker from their own side of halfway when Jake Averillo explodes into the back field and gets a kick across for his outside men where Max Feagai scoops the ball up and gets to the line despite the fact he was stumbling and the defenders had a good shot at him. Jamayne Isaako converts. Sharks 14-6.
65 min: A clever grubber by Blayke Brailey forces a line dropout but the short dropout by Isaiya Katoa is inch perfect and Herbie Farnworth takes it on the full.
59 min: A high tackle penalty against Kurt Donoghoe hands Nicho Hynes a simple shot at goal and he bangs it over. Sharks 14-0.
Jesse Ramien Try
55 min: Briton Nikora stands in a tackle and offloads to Jesse Ramien who can't be stopped from close range and the Sharks have their second try. Nicho Hynes pushes the conversion across the posts. Sharks 12-0.
53 min: A one-on-one strip by Jeremy Marshall-King on Braden Hamlin-Uele gives the Dolphins another chance but Connelly Lemuelu comes up with an error.
47 min: An escort penalty against Herbie Farnworth hands Nicho Hynes a shot at extending the lead to eight points from 22 metres out and he knocks it over. Sharks 8-0.
44 min: A real shot at points for the Dolphins but Herbie Farnworth drops the ball under good pressure from the Sharks defence.
43 min: Sharks back-rower Teig Wilton is placed on report for a late hit on Isaiya Katoa.
41 min: The Sharks make an error in the first hit-up of the second half when Braden Hamlin-Uele puts the ball down in a strong Josh Kerr tackle.
The Hundred Club: Sharks fullback Will Kennedy was at his dynamic best with 160 metres from 12 runs while Jamayne Isaako racked up 103 metres for the visitors - the only two men to crack the ton for run metres.
Half-time: The Sharks take a 6-0 lead to the sheds but will feel like they should have led by more after clocking up 983 run metres to the Dolphins' 718. The Sharks threatened on a number of occasions but the Dolphins scrambled well with Jeremy Marshall-King making 37 tackles and Kurt Donoghoe 32.
39 min: A forward pass out of dummy half by Jeremy Marshall-King kills off the Dolphins' last shot at points.
35 min: Isaiya Katoa goes to the air and Sione Katoa puts it down to hand the Dolphins a full set from close range but they come up empty with a poor end to the set when Herbie Farnworth runs out of dummy half on the last and is easily shut down.
34 min: Isaiya Katoa grubbers into the upright but Teig Wilton is on hand to clean up the ball and the Sharks come away.
32 min: The Dolphins get a chance inside the Red Zone but Kulikefu Finefeuiaki grubbers way too hard and the ball goes dead but the Sharks spill it coming out of their own end.
31 min: Dolphins prop Mark Nicholls leaves the field for a HIA after a head clash. He fails the assessment and is unable to return.
What a break by Kennedy
30 min: Will Kennedy explodes into space on a kick return but fails to find his support and then the Sharks look certain to score but the Dolphins scramble and Nicho Hynes drops the ball just short of the line.
25 min: The Dolphins concede a six-again but dig deep to ensure they don't concede a second try as their online defence stands tall.
19 min: The Sharks go left and look to have the Dolphins defence in trouble but Braydon Trindall fires a long ball too high for Ronaldo Mulitalo and over the sideline and the opportunity is lost.
13 min: The Dolphins find themselves under pressure again as the Sharks throw the ball around on the last tackle before Ronaldo Mulitalo's grubber goes dead and the pressure valve is released.
Nicholas Hynes Try
8 min: The Sharks sneak up the short side on last play and Nicho Hynes slices between Herbie Farnworth and Tevita Naufahu to score the game's opening try. Hynes converts from wide out. Sharks 6-0.
6 min: A one-on-one strip by Herbie Farnworth deep in Sharks territory gives the Dolphins a chance but the Sharks' defence holds firm.
5 min: On the back of a penalty the Sharks march down field and Braydon Trindall launches a bomb on the last but Jamayne Isaako flies high to defuse it.
Late Mail
Sharks: Utility Daniel Atkinson was originally named on the bench but he has gone back to 18th man an hour before kick-off with Billy Burns coming back in. The Sharks have won only one of their past five games, dropping from fifth to 10th on the ladder in the process.
Dolphins: A late switch in the backline with Jake Averillo going to fullback and Tevita Naufaho coming in on the wing for his NRL debut. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow is being rested. Aublix Tawha starts at prop and Mark Nicholls reverts to the bench.
