Sportsbet's annual Try July campaign returns for a sixth year and will once again see players across the game showcase their tryscoring celebrations to help raise much-needed funds.

For every try celebration across the 53 games played in July this year, Sportsbet will donate $5,000 to the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation (ASCF) and the Player Hardship Fund.

Since its inception in 2020, Sportsbet’s Try July has raised more than $1.4 million for causes connected to the rugby league community.

The 53 games included in this year's campaign include:

  • NRL Telstra Premiership Round 18
  • NRL Telstra Premiership Round 19
  • NRL Telstra Premiership Round 20
  • NRL Telstra Premiership Round 21
  • NRL Telstra Women's Premiership Round 1
  • NRL Telstra Women's Premiership Round 2
  • NRL Telstra Women's Premiership Round 3
  • NRL Telstra Women's Premiership Round 4
  • Ampol Men's State of Origin Game 3

With its beginnings in 2020, Sportsbet's Try July campaign initially raised $85,000 for the Men of League Foundation in its debut year before reaching new heights in 2021 – raising $265,000 for the Family of League's Mose Masoe appeal to support the injured footballer.

In 2022, a further $275,000 was raised for the Red Cross to support the Tonga Recovery as well as NSW and QLD floods appeals before going a level further again in 2023 – raising a whopping $400,000 to Nathan Stapleton and Daniel Anderson to take the total raised beyond the $1million mark.

With a host of games set to showcase elaborate try-scoring feats this year, make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the best celebrations from your favourite players in helping raise funds for two great causes.

2025 Causes

Australia has the highest rates of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer in the world and the stats are alarming – melanoma is the most common cancer among 15-39 year-olds in Australia, and one Australian dies from melanoma every six hours.

Education and early detection are key to lowering the rate and to saving lives.  Skin cancer does not discriminate and impacts people year-round – “any season is a reason to get your skin checked”. The funds donated to the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation will go towards a second skin check truck that will provide skin check services across Australian communities in need.

Funds raised for the ASCF will support the rollout of a second mobile skin check truck, providing life-saving early detection to more regional and underserved communities around the country.

“We are very honoured to once again be chosen by Sportsbet to be a beneficiary of funds raised from ‘Try July’ in the 2025 campaign," said Jay Allen OAM, CEO and Founder of Australian Skin Cancer Foundation.

"The funds will help us to expand our free skin checks to people across Australia, particularly to those in regional and remote areas where there is a lack of skin check services.

"Over 95 per cent of skin cancers can be successfully treated if they are found early."

The Player Hardship Fund provides financial support to players and their families experiencing serious illness, injury or hardship.
