Dane Gagai joins 300 Club

National Rugby League (NRL) CEO Andrew Abdo has congratulated Newcastle Knights centre Dane Gagai, who will play his 300th NRL match tonight.

Gagai will become the 54th player in NRL history to join the 300-game club when the Newcastle Knights face the Parramatta Eels.

Mr Abdo will present Gagai with the traditional 300-game match ball following the game at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle.

“On behalf of the Rugby League community, I congratulate Dane on reaching the milestone of 300 NRL games,” Mr Abdo said.

“Dane has forged a remarkable career across more than a decade, representing the Brisbane Broncos, South Sydney Rabbitohs, and Newcastle Knights.

“He has made an enormous impact on the game at both club and representative levels, proudly representing Australia, starring for Queensland in State of Origin, and celebrating his heritage by representing both the Indigenous and Māori All Stars.

"Dane’s contributions to the game can be seen through his impressive achievements, including winning the Danny Buderus Medal, Newcastle Knights player of the year award, on two occasions, and the prestigious Wally Lewis Medal in 2017.

“Reaching 300 games is an extraordinary achievement and a reflection of Dane’s talent, resilience and dedication. Congratulations to Dane on achieving this exceptional milestone. I wish him the best for the remainder of his career.”
