Entain, the powerful international sports betting and gaming entertainment group, has decided to donate 100,000 British pounds to help the Indian authorities cope with devastating effects of the current Covid-19 emergency in the country.
The donation came through the group’s Entain Foundation and it will go to Crown Agents, a not-for-profit international organisation which will take charge of making sure that the money is spent where it could make the most impact.
The pandemic has hit India very hard, with around 500,000 new cases every day at the moment, which would make around half of all new Covid-19 cases globally. Many hospitals in the country are unable to deal with the immense number of patients which are in need of immediate help.
The donation will allow Crown Agents to buy and distribute 25 oxygen concentrators to hospitals in India, along with drugs that are used in the treatment of Covid-19 such as Remdesivir, Tocilizumab and Dexamethasone.
These supplies will give some patients the chance to be treated in their own homes and avoid the already overcrowded hospitals. Entain has close ties to India, because it employs around 2,500 people at its subsidiary in Hyderabad, called IvyTech.
The Entain Group has revealed it makes important efforts to support their colleagues based in India and their families as well with the procurement of medicines, hospitalisation support and even online medical consultations.
