Newcastle Knights SEWB On Country Day 2025

On March 27th, 2025, the School to Work Hunter/Newcastle region delivered their third annual SEWB on Country Day, with 58 students in attendance. The day was filled with powerful moments of connection, learning, cultural empowerment, and the promotion of social and emotional wellbeing.

SEWB On Country Day Newcastle Knights

SEWB, standing for Social Emotional Well-Being, is an area that our team has identified as one of the most important aspects of our participants' lives, and an area that greatly impacts on their growth and achieving their aspirations.

A special highlight of the event was the presence of Newcastle Knights player, Dylan Lucas, whose engagement with the students added another layer of excitement and inspiration. The students were thrilled to meet him, and his involvement left a lasting impact. We were also fortunate to have NRLW player Botille Vette-Welsh join us. Her interactions and conversations with the students created an even more memorable experience for all.

The incredible facilitators, Josh Toole, and Josh Sly, provided a safe, meaningful space for the students. Their knowledge, cultural leadership and guidance played a pivotal role in the success of the event. The students showed enthusiasm and respect for the workshops and activities, truly embracing the opportunities to connect with their culture and each other.

We'd also like to extend our gratitude to our sponsors, Kmart and Awabakal, whose support made this event possible. Their generosity allowed us to provide a valuable experience for the students, strengthening their cultural identity and wellbeing.

Big thank you to Kmart for sponsoring the event and making the day possible.
