Star Entertainment, one of the most important Australian operators of land-based casinos, has announced yet another postponement of the opening date of Queen’s Wharf Brisbane, the company’s latest integrated resort development.
The opening date of Queen’s Wharf Brisbane has been delayed four times over the past 18 months. The latest opening date was supposed to come before the end of 2023 but now that has been pushed over to April 2024.
The development of the new integrated resort will cost Star Entertainment 3.6 billion Australian dollars and is expected to attract 1.39 million visitors every year. The venue will include over 50 new cafes and bars, along with a ballroom with 1,500 seats.
The company released a project update in which it revised the opening date after having considered the current progress registered by the builder in charge of operations. “Queen’s Wharf has not been immune from the types of pressures that other major infrastructure projects across Australia have encountered,” Robbie Cooke, the Chief Executive Officer of Star Entertainment explained.
However, the Star Entertainment CEO added that the project “will be well worth the wait” while reminding that the venue has been “eight years in the making”. Robbie Cooke described Queen’s Wharf as “a game-changer” for the city of Brisbane, which prepares to host the 2032 Olympic Games.
